This Weekend's VIP - Ocean Kayak

Enough rain already!!! What a weekend… The potential for this past weekend was great! A four day weekend for the 4th of July! Super exciting! Time off and time to do some fun stuff!!! Well, not exactly… The time off has been great but the weather has been miserable and thus there has just not been the opportunity for fun that we had hoped for. We did get a little time away in the mountains and we were able to see a few fireworks before the torrential down pours started back up but otherwise the weekend has been rainy, stormy, rainy, windy, rainy…

Did I mention the rain??? This past week and weekend I have received more weather alerts for flash flooding and severe thunderstorms then I EVER care to see again… I have, being the planner that I am, already checked the forecast for the upcoming week and there is a 40-60% chance of rain and thunderstorms EVERY SINGLE DAY!

I am beginning to feel like it will rain all summer long! I am so sick of the rain!

With all this rain rain rain it only seems fitting that This Weekend’s VIP should be our kayaks! Should this rain just keep on keeping on we can at least paddle where we need to go when the water gets too high to drive. Ha!

All four of us have Ocean Kayaks. Yes we are partial!

We started off with just two and quickly grew to a family of four by the following year. We love them!

They have been on several rivers, which are our frequent playgrounds, and even to the beach in both the ocean and intracoastal waterway:

The girls and I all have the Venus 11. We have the Pink and White Swirl, the Fuchsia and the Blue Venus 11's and James started out with the Caper but has since sold that boat and has purchased the Trident 13. We love our boats! For us girls the Venus 11 is easy to maneuver and handle on the water and is designed specifically for women! For James the Trident 13 provides the perfect combination of stability, maneuverability and usability with ample storage for taking along all the things we will need for our trips (and maybe a little fishing).

If you haven’t kayaked you should definitely give it a try! I bet once you do you will be hooked! Many outdoor outfitter shops offer kayak rentals so you can try it before you buy it. If you enjoy kayaking the purchase of your own will be well worth it! Having our kayaks allows us to have a mini vacation every weekend!

Hopefully this rain will stop soon and the sun will start to shine so we won't have to travel around town by Kayak. We would have loved to have been on our kayaks this weekend, on the river somewhere, basking in the sunshine instead of wringing wet with the rain but our kayaks are This Weekend's VIP none the less!
